Legendary Interconnectedness

Even as we slip from the age of mechanistic science into what computer scientist Jim Gray called the Fourth Paradigm, or data-intensive scientific inquiry, there is a pervasive rationalism that informs how we frame the world.Footnote1 We are all still modernists. We only need to look at our research paradigms to confirm this. Research paradigms are a good place to start, as they frame our world view and shape our beliefs, values, and methods when studying objects and phenomena.
