Editorial Statement

TECHNOLOGY | ARCHITECTURE + DESIGN is a publication venue for those conducting research in fields aligned with building technology and who seek to articulate their value, importance and relevancy for the practice of design. TAD is committed to disseminating research and scholarship, and in positioning its published content and editorials within broader contexts (be they cultural, ethical or critical). TAD discusses and debates the value building technology contributes to architecture and design, as well as the responsibility of design fields to address the impact which ever widening technological forces have on its practice. These are essential questions not only for ensuring the work of analysis transcends its potentially positivistic methodologies, but equally for ensuring the role of synthesis remains relevant at the scale of buildings.
